The Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project completed the selection of communities for the grant programme aimed to develop municipal cooperation on academic lyceums.
The selection process consisted of two stages: the evaluation of submitted applications and interviews with the community teams. During the interviews, the communities presented their vision for cooperation, their plans for the development of academic lyceums, and their readiness to pool resources and efforts to ensure high-quality and accessible specialised secondary education.
The winners of the selection process include 45 communities from 15 regions of Ukraine. Cooperation agreements will cover over 100 communities, which will jointly develop academic lyceums.
More than 58,000 students of the future academic lyceums will be able to take advantage of new laboratories and specialist classrooms, buses, and boarding facilities. Of these, nearly 3,000 students will be transported from neighbouring communities.
If cooperation agreements between communities are successfully concluded, each of the winning communities will receive UAH 1,000,000 for the development of an academic lyceum.
The grant funds can be used to equip laboratories and classrooms, repair buildings, refurbish boarding facilities, purchase furniture, and acquire school transport.
During the preparation and signing of the cooperation agreements, the communities will receive full expert support from the DECIDE Project team.
