The additional selection of communities to participate in the national pilot project of the career guidance system for children and adolescents, implemented by the Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, has been completed.
We congratulate 119 new communities and 5 districts of Kyiv on joining the national pilot project! Overall, 510 communities are already developing a career guidance system together with us!

The first year of the national pilot project has shown that systematic careers guidance works!
During this time, more than 61,000 students in Grades 8–9 have discovered the world of professions:
- They went on career guidance excursions to more than 2,200 enterprises, institutions, and organisations. They gained an inside look at different professions, spoke to specialists, and learnt about the career opportunities available in their communities.
- They visited vocational, pre-university, and higher education institutions to gain a better understanding of what their own educational path might look like after leaving school and where to pursue education in line with their career preferences.
- They also studied the JOBS course – explored their own strengths and interests, and learnt to match their abilities with potential educational and career trajectories.
In fact, more than 75,000 students in Grades 8-9 will study this course this academic year!
Meanwhile, the communities united everyone whose role is crucial to the future of children and adolescents around career guidance: the education sector, local authorities, and employers.
Cooperation with the business sector became one of the key outcomes of the pilot project – more than 1,000 memoranda of understanding were signed!
Local, regional, and national businesses help teenagers get to know the real world of work and identify opportunities for professional fulfilment in Ukraine.
However, scaling up the pilot project is only part of the next stage in the development of the career guidance system in Ukraine.
Currently, in cooperation with the Zurich University of Teacher Education, we are training mentors to prepare 15,000 career guidance counsellors who will work with students in Grades 7-9 in all schools across Ukraine!
Ahead are new partnerships with the business sector, even more career guidance excursions and opportunities for children and adolescents to explore the world of careers, build their own educational and career trajectory, and choose their own future!
