The tools for strategic planning and development of the educational institution were mastered by 20 selected mentors who will soon accompany the pilot vocational education institutions in the process of developing their institutional development strategies.

For them, experts of the DECIDE Swiss-Ukrainian Project held the first in a series of trainings for mentors on developing strategies for the development of vocational education institutions in April 2024. The participants were expected to have an intensive course in strategic planning, a lot of interesting practical tasks and a presentation of their developments.

Mentors learned the following:

– what are the main stages of developing a vocational education institution strategy;
– what should be paid attention to when creating a strategy;
– how to do a strategic analysis of vocational education institutions;
– how to work with data when planning the development of an educational institution and what are the sources of data for strategic analysis;
– what is needed for the development of vocational education institutions in modern conditions.

During the practical part, participants analyzed external factors of influence on vocational education institutions, learned to work with infographics and visualized data obtained from various sources.

It is planned that mentors will accompany 10 partner vocational schools in Poltava, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions during 2024. In the coming months, mentors will help teams of institutions to conduct a strategic analysis, work with SWOT analysis, and jointly develop a strategic vision for the development of vocational education institutions. Most importantly, they will unite the vocational education institution teams, the public and businesses around the development of these educational institutions.

Based on the results of the work, methodological recommendations for the development of strategies for the development of vocational education institutions will also be presented.
